Plain-English version: We collect your name, email, and what you tell us on the contact form or when you reach out about visiting, membership, or community groups. We use it to write back, to invite you to events, and to remember the conversation. We do not sell your information. We do not share it outside the small list of services that run this site. One form is different: the Connect Card, on our Plan Your Visit and Contact pages, belongs to Planning Center, and what you type there goes straight to them. You can ask us to delete what we have any time at info@thedistrict.church.
Who this applies to
This policy covers thedistrict.church and the email or text conversations that come from it. "We" means The District Church, whose registered legal name is The District Church Incorporated, located at 2021 E 52nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
What we collect
Four buckets.
- What you give us directly. Name, email, phone, anything you write in the contact form, replies to our emails, sign-ups for events or community groups, and the name, email address, and phone number you enter on the Connect Card.
- What your browser tells the site. IP address, device and browser type, the page you came from, the pages you visit, and the rough region your IP suggests. Standard server-log data.
- What analytics tools record. Google Analytics 4 records anonymized usage. It does not have your name attached. See the Cookie Policy for opt-out instructions.
- What a parent gives us at Little District check-in. A child's name, a child's age, and a parent email address, collected in person on a Sunday rather than through this site. See the Children section below.
Why we collect it
- So we can write back when you reach out.
- So we know how to follow up on a visit, group, or membership conversation.
- So you get invited to events or get the Word of the Week newsletter if you ask for it, and stop getting it when you ask us to stop.
- So we can see what people are searching and reading on the site (anonymous traffic patterns, not personal tracking).
Who we share it with
Only the small set of services that run this site:
- Google Analytics 4 for anonymized analytics
- Make.com for moving what you send through the contact and newsletter forms into our records and our inbox
- Google Sheets, where newsletter sign-ups are recorded so nothing gets lost. Messages sent through the contact form are not written to a spreadsheet; they go to our inbox only
- Gmail, which delivers the notification to us and carries your address so we can reply
- Mailchimp, which holds the Word of the Week mailing list and sends it. Only people who sign up for the newsletter are added, and every email it sends carries an unsubscribe link
- Tuscan CMS (Supabase) for hosting our site content
- Church Center / Planning Center for giving, event registration, Little District children's check-in, and the Connect Card described below
- Vercel for hosting the website itself
- Cloudflare for image hosting and CDN
The Connect Card needs a separate word. It is Planning Center's form, not ours. It opens in a window over the page you are on, or in a new tab if you are on a phone, so it can look like part of this site. But the name, email address, and phone number you type into it go from your browser straight to Planning Center. That information does not pass through this website. Planning Center's privacy policy governs it from the moment you send it, and we see it the same way we see anything else you send us: so a real person can follow up.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not run third-party retargeting on this site.
How long we keep it
- Contact form messages and conversation history: kept while we are in touch, then up to 24 months after the last contact.
- Newsletter list: kept until you unsubscribe, then removed within 30 days.
- Membership, giving, and Connect Card records: kept per Church Center / Planning Center retention policies and applicable record-keeping requirements for nonprofit organizations.
- Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics 4 defaults.
- Little District check-in records: kept in Planning Center while a family is part of the church, and deleted on request from a parent or guardian.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what we have on you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete what we have, except where we are required to keep it by law (for example, donation records for tax compliance).
- Stop emailing you. Unsubscribe links work, or just reply and tell us.
Email info@thedistrict.church with any of those requests.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through it. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, contact info@thedistrict.church and we will delete it.
Little District, our Sunday kids ministry, is different, and we want to be plain about it. Little District serves ages 0 to 10. When you check your child in on a Sunday, a parent or guardian gives us the child's name, the child's age, and a parent email address. That check-in happens in person, not on this website. The information is stored in Planning Center, the same system that holds our giving and event records.
We use it to run check-in: to know which children are in our care during the service, and to reach a parent if we need to. We do not use children's information for marketing. We do not sell it. We do not share it outside Planning Center.
A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to see what we hold about their child, correct it, or have it deleted. Email info@thedistrict.church.
Security
We use HTTPS across the site. Our service providers use industry-standard security. No system is perfectly secure. If you have a sensitive request, please reach out by phone or in person on a Sunday.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date below. Material changes will also be noted on the home page or in an email if you are on our newsletter list.
