The District Church

What to expect

What a Sunday morning is like.

A sermon preached straight from the passage we are working through, and time to sing and take communion together. If you have questions while you are here, find one of our greeters. We would love to meet you.

  1. 8:45

Doors open and there is coffee.

  2. 9:00

We start sharp. Singing, communion, and the sermon.

  3. 10:30

We finish, give or take. About 90 minutes in all.

  4. 11:00

The coffee is out again. Most people stay until about now.

Covenant Membership

Becoming a member is your way of saying, “I’m all in.”

We want to be honest with you. If you come to The District, we will ask something of you. We will ask you to show up consistently, grow in the gospel, serve, give, and multiply. Not because we “need” you, but because following Jesus changes who you are and how you live.

Though we invite you to come as you are, be encouraged that we do not expect you to stay as you are. Covenant Membership is a commitment of our family and pastors to you, and of you to the family.

Frequently asked questions.

Honest answers for anyone considering a first Sunday with us. If you're wondering whether you'd fit here, start below.

Still have a question?

We would rather talk than leave you guessing. A real person will reply.

Get in touch

I've never been to a church like this. Will I fit in?

If you're tired of church feeling like a performance, or you're hungry for substance and real growth, you'll likely feel at home. We're an ordinary community of people learning to follow Jesus together. Come as you are. Curious, skeptical, or somewhere in between.

When and where do you gather?

Every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 2021 E 52nd St, Indianapolis, IN 46205, in south Broad Ripple. There is a lot on site and street parking on E 52nd St. Doors open at 8:45 AM and there is coffee. We start at 9 sharp.

What is a Sunday gathering actually like?

About 90 minutes. Singing, communion every Sunday, and a sermon preached straight from the passage we are working through. The sermon itself runs about 55 minutes. We finish around 10:30 and people stay for coffee until 11:00 AM. No production, no hype. If you have questions while you are with us, ask one of our greeters.

Do I need to dress up or bring anything?

No. Wear whatever you would wear to coffee with a friend, and bring nothing but yourself. If you have kids, Little District runs alongside the service and our hospitality team will walk you up.

Where do my kids go on a Sunday, and is there a check-in?

Yes. Our hospitality team meets you at the door and walks you up. Check-in is at the top of the stairs and to the left, and it is signed, so you will not have to hunt for it. Little District is for ages 0 to 10. Nursery runs the whole service. Older kids stay in the room with you for the singing, then head to their class for the rest. It is optional, so your kids are welcome to stay with you the entire time.

What do you believe?

We are gospel-centered and biblically faithful. Our convictions are drawn from Scripture, and they shape our preaching, worship, and life together. The full summary with Scripture references is on our Beliefs page.

What do you mean by “verse by verse”?

The sermon works through a passage of the Bible in order, and the point of the passage is the point of the sermon. We preach through whole books of Scripture rather than jumping topic to topic.

How do I take a next step or get involved?

Start by showing up on a Sunday. From there, get into a Community Group, take a membership class, and find a place to serve. A greeter on Sunday or the contact page will get you started.

How does giving work, and where does it go?

Giving runs through Church Center, securely, with one-time and recurring options, or in person on a Sunday. It funds the ministry of the church: treasuring Jesus and helping others follow Him.

Do I have to be a member to join a group or serve?

No. Start by showing up on a Sunday and getting into a Community Group. Covenant Membership is a later step for people ready to say they are all in.

What is Covenant Membership?

A commitment between you, the church family, and the pastors. Members commit to show up consistently, grow in the gospel, serve, give, and multiply. The path is simple: connect with a leader, attend a membership class, schedule a one-on-one, and finalize membership.
