go and dismiss our kids to little district and for the rest of us want don't you goad and grab your Bibles and open them up to Luke chap 22 feels like we've been in Luke 22 for a minute because there are 71 verses in Luke 22 but this is the last sermon in Luke 22 and actually we only have about five or six more sermons left in the Book of Luke which will round us out at around 106 107 sermons that we've done in walking through this investigation um that Luke was doing into the life and Ministry of Jesus um Luke 22 where we're at

in it to catch up some of you who who might have missed the last one or two sermons is Jesus is in the moment of being arrested and so as he's being arrested he's experiencing the Betrayal of friends um he's experiencing the denial of his friends uh he's experiencing the um the beginning as we'll see today of starting to get beaten and blindfolded um again betrayed even blasphemed uh we're starting to see all of that and so we're we're shifting if you will from this three-year Ministry of Jesus and what we actually saw last week was his final teaching that he gave to his disciples

uh before he actually gets arrested and then taking into custody but we've been looking at the three-year Ministry which again was just a phenomenal time like it was a phenomenal season in uh the region of Galilee in the region outside of Jerusalem people loved Jesus they they loved it when he came into town uh there were almost all kinds of triumphal entries because again he was kind of becoming the celebrity he was becoming the one that they heard of who was doing all these Miracles who teaches with authority who's raising the dead back to life and so Jesus was in all senses like he was

the man that everyone wanted to know they wanted to experience him they they wanted to see him even so much so that again like the the bottom of the to totem pole the the worst in the community people like zakus who were Tax Collectors they're trying to gather around Jesus they're climbing trees they're trying to get a glimpse into who this man was and so the popular opinion amongst the Society was that this is an awesome guy that we all want to know we're now starting to shift in that mindset where no longer is it the triumphal entry but now he is being considered numbered

among the transgressors he is being considered a criminal he is being considered one that no longer do the people want to know and want to experience but they now want to crucify and want to eradicate they want to get get rid of him and today's message specifically is the turning point that shift that whole mindset that not only do they shift the mindset in how they view Jesus but they shift the mindset in how they view the followers of Jesus in the decades to come so much so that Jesus as we talked about last week is why he prepares his disciples what he eventually or

what he essentially told them in his final teaching was when you were with me for the three years and I sent you out into Villages you could literally go into those Villages without having to prepare for any money without having to take any any sacks with you without having to provide for yourselves in any way because his name and his ministry was welcome there and because it was welcome there are going to be people there who are going to provide for you because they want you to be there they want in on whatever it is that Jesus is accomplishing but now as the mindset begins

to shift to where not only is he um savior but they consider him to be insane as it shifts he's now explaining to his disciples when you go out and You Begin ministering to the towns you're going to need to make sure that you have money bags with you you're going to need to make sure that you have knapsacks with you you're going to to make sure that you have swords with you and as we saw last week he's not talking about literal swords even though that's what the the disciples were ready to kind of take on for themselves is yes yeah let's Second Amendment

right let's go for our our swords let's buy those things and he ends up at saying that's not what I'm actually talking about and the reason why we know that is because when he's arrested Peter cuts a guy's ear off and Jesus says stop it like that's not what we're doing here what he was really aiming at is that you're going to need the sword of the spirit you're going to need the sword that is the word of God in order to go out into these Villages and continue the ministry of the goel because it's only that that gives you any type of authority and

power to provide any sort of change in those communities and Villages and so that's what they were going to need because as we'll see today whatever Authority that was given to them from an Earthly component is absolutely going to be stripped away no longer are they going to be welcom no longer is there any status or prestige on on on their part no longer are they going to be again considered popular or want to be known and this message is not only a message that is going to show the shift in that but it's also a message that is the message it is the question

that for 2,000 years has been asked of by every single human is whether or not Jesus is the son of of God because what we believe in regards to that question determines everything in regards to our eternity it's the question to ask and it was the question that as we'll see here in a moment that the chief priest and the scribes and and the Pharisees as well as um again the political authorities in the day it's the question that based on how Jesus answers it is what shifts their mindset to see okay this isn't just a hug human that we can't find any fault in

this is a man who's blaspheming and therefore we are able to crucify him murder him kill him try him and get rid of him in their mind thinking that they're eradicating him because of how he answers it but the reality is is how they answer the question whether or not he is the Son of God will determine whether or not they are eradicated whether or not they are elevated to a position of Glory when it comes to Eternity so I'm going to read it for us and then I'm going to kind of break it down for you as we walk through it so Luke 22

looking at verse 63 we're going to go through 71 and it starts like this now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him they also blindfolded him and they kept asking him prophesy who is it that struck you and they said many other things against him blaspheming him now those are just again just a few verses uh that begin to lean into the type of beating and the type of torture um that Jesus ured and and if you actually trace it throughout the other gospels as well there's a lot more graphic details that are included in those gospels

but in all honesty and it's not saying that the word of God is lacking here but just reading those verses is do not for us show us the level of torture that Jesus experiened the level of beating that he went through and and underwent with in a in a illegitimate way let's continue reading and we'll break that down in a moment but when day came which shows us that that happened all throughout the night the Assembly of the Elders of the people people gathered together both Chief priests and the scribes and they led him away to their counsel and they said if you are the

Christ then tell us but he said to them if I tell you you're not going to believe me and if I ask you you will not answer it either but from now on the son of man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God and so they all said are you then the Son of God and he said to them you say that I am then they said whatat further testimony do we need we've heard it ourselves from his own lips let's pray real quick before we BR uh break this down father this is your word this is what you've communicated

to us we as humans we we are not able to come up with our own ideologies of who you are we're not able to come up with our own truths in regards to who you are and what you've accomplished for us only you can do that and only you can be the one who communicates to us exactly who the Son of God is exactly who the son of man is and exactly who the Christ is he could be standing right in front of us and we would not know it unless you reveal it to us and this is a situation in which Jesus is standing

before them and they don't know it they don't see who you see and my prayer for us is that as we read through passages like this I pray that we have eyes to see we have ears to hear and I pray that as we see what Jesus has accomplished for us in substituting himself in our place that it would fuel us for our day to take up our cross in order to advance the mission of God in seeking and saving the lost in our world that we would do exactly as Jesus did for us that we would be fueled by seeing his sacrifice so that

we become living sacrifices for those around us as well God only you can do that I cannot do that only you can do that and so I pray that as we unpack this this morning that your Holy Spirit would convict our hearts so that we examine our lives and we're able to see exactly what it is that you have called us to just as you just as you have called your son Jesus to this Mission as well it's in your name we pray amen all right the first few things I want to show you here in those first three verses is that Jesus was betrayed

he was beaten he was blindfolded and he was blasphemed all right the Bible gave me those alliteration here so I didn't even have to come up with them but we know first and foremost that Jesus was betrayed and we've talked about that he was betrayed by Judas a scariot he was betrayed by one of his 12 he was betrayed by one whom he's provided for who he's washed the feet of who he's invested life in over the past three years Judas like the other disciples was even considered one of Jesus's friends but like many leaders like many Caesars before him like many kings before him

one of his own stabs him in the back what did Judas get for s selling Jesus A month's rent which just revealed where Judas where his heart was what he Treasures what he really actually care for how he viewed Jesus and it's just another one of those examples that he had Jesus right in front of him he had Jesus not only in front of him but with him for three years and yet was still able to miss Jesus it just goes to show you that The Human Condition how easy it is for us to miss Jesus to the point that we would be willing to

betray him and that's what Jesus was was worth to Judas even though Jesus invested much more into the life of Judas those three years but the first thing we see here is that Jesus was betrayed by one of his own by one of the disciples one of his friends the second thing is that Jesus was taken and he was beaten he was beaten by some random encounter he or he wasn't beaten by some random encounter in a dark alley by nobody he was beaten by his creation now this is one of those things to think about because often times we don't put it in that

category we just look at this as well there was just a bunch of people who didn't know Jesus in the moment they didn't see who he was they were just following orders and they were depraved but you also got to remember that these are the ones whom as Psalm 139 tells us that Jesus knit together in their mother's WS are the ones who are striking him across the face who are ripping his hair out who are placing a crown of thorns and embedding it into his skin I want you to think about it even more than that I've heard it described this way that the

tendons and ligaments holding together the bone and muscle in the hands of these men who are holding Jesus are themselves held together by Jesus the saliva in their mouths that they pulled together to spit Upon Jesus was formed in the glands that Jesus designed and produced for them Colossians 1:16-17 puts it this way for by him all things were created in heaven and on Earth visible and invisible whether Thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities all things were created through him and for him and he is before all things and in him all things hold together and so in this moment as they're rearing their

fist back Jesus could make their hand disappear if he wanted but he holds it together in order for it to strike him on the face in order for them to p pull back the whips that have thongs on them that have rocks and nails and metal and Bone all attached to them so that when they strike him it embeds into the skin and when they pull it back it rips his skin off all of those things Jesus created and so he's being beaten by his creation the palm prints on their hands that strike the face of Jesus were etched into their skin by Jesus in

the movie exm there's this quote that says in it isn't it strange to create something that hates you Christ's creation is what crucified Christ The Creation killed its creator which just shows us how depraved sin makes us that we can't even recognize the one who holds us together and instead we are seeking to rip him apart when we get to application in a moment I'll explain a little bit more of how we see that unfolding in our day and age today but how dehumanized has sin devolved Humanity into not only can we not recognize our creator but we become Savages who ruthlessly seek his Bloodshed

and more than that we we seek his existence to be erased from history at the end of the the day sin is the elevation of mankind and the eradication of God that's what sin is seeking to accomplish but according to the Bible sin actually is the eradication of mankind the truest form of humanity is erased because of sin I mean think that think about that right now what sin is seeking to accomplish is the erasing of god-given gender identities let's get rid of of them we're seeking to destroy all that God has created the gospel then is the elevation of God as it rightly restores

the glory of God back to Creation where sin is dehumanizing us so much so that we can't see our creator and we will actually torture him and seek to kill him and seek to eradicate him what the gospel is doing is actually humanizing ing us once again it's actually restoring us back to what God actually created us for so that the creation brings glory to the Creator and that's why again they weren't able to see it but that's what Jesus is accomplishing In This Moment the next thing we see is that they blindfolded Jesus as they're beating Jesus they blindfolded him and they mock him

Jesus was blindfolded by those who were blind that's what crazy about this situation he's blindfolded by those who are blind because of their sin they could not see what they were doing and yet they're confidently striking the Son of God mocking him with every blow who is it that struck you can you see us and the real question Jesus is asking is can you see me can you see who I am I believe that is why before Jesus breathes his last breath on the cross he says the father forgive them for they don't know what they're doing they're so caught in their sin that they

don't understand what they're doing in killing their creator and he says to the father forgive them for they don't know it again they blindfolded him not realizing that they are the ones that are blind themselves the next thing it say is Jesus was blasphemed which is ironic given the accusation against Jesus is that he is the one blaspheming therefore how are they blaspheming Jesus it's a good question why would they be consider or blaspheming him how can you blaspheme Jesus well it's because they're declaring that Jesus is something that he is not if blaspheming is declaring that I am something I'm not which is basically

because Jesus said I am God they're saying he is a blasphemer because he is saying that he is God but what they realize in saying that as they are numbering him among the transgressors as they are saying he is insane as they are saying he's a lunatic as they are saying he's out of his mind as they're saying he is a criminal what they don't realize is that is blaspheming Jesus because it's saying Jesus is something he's not he is actually the Son of God he is actually the Lord he is the Lord and they declare him a lunatic he is their Savior and they

declare him insane he's the begotten of God and they want to bury him in a grave they blasphemed Jesus it wasn't Jesus who was blaspheming and so what we see here is that Jesus being betrayed being beaten being blindfolded and blasphemed all night is not only something that he is accomplishing for us but it's also something that he is showing us by object lesson of what will happen for those who are once and for all numbered among the transgressors what he's actually showing here is not only is he substituting himself and taking the wrath of God and paying the punishment for those who believe the

gospel and receive eternal life but he's also put putting on display in an object lesson in a temporary moment what will happen for everyone who does not believe in Jesus eternally you see what he's doing here in this moment that that that they are not able to see is that there will be no rest from the torture and Punishment Due our sins that's why again I say that it lasted all night and it wasn't until the morning that they then took him into the council which means there was never a moment in which they allow Jesus to rest from the beating and the torture and

what Jesus is in that moment um putting on display is that if you go to hell there will never be relent of what you are going to receive there there will never be a moment in which God's Wrath lets up instead forever you will not rest and instead be beaten and toward Ted in that moment just as Jesus was blindfolded unable to see the Eternal punishment in hell will be an eternal Darkness where you cannot see it where you'll be asking the question where did that strike come from where did that torture come from it'll be unimaginable Devastation and despair as Jesus was sweating blood

and shedding blood with every blow he took from his captors those who are condemned will shed their blood endlessly as payment for sin against a holy God quite possibly one of the most memorable and influential sermons given in our modern era was by Jonathan Edwards a Puritan who preached a sermon titled sinners in the hands of an Angry God and this is what he is explaining as he's unfolding that is that you don't want to be sinners in the hand of an Angry God you want to be sinners in the the hand of a happy God or Saints in the hand of a happy God

but the only thing that Bridges the gap for us of being sinners in the hand of an Angry God which is Hell or Saint Saints in the hand of a happy God which is Heaven is the gospel in the middle what Jesus is actually accomplishing for them in this moment the wrath of God is not something to take lightly even though that's what our current Society is trying to do they're trying to rewrite Eternal history they're trying to rewat rewrite our perception to make hell look like heaven and make heaven look like hell they're trying to make hell look like a party with Satan and

heaven look like a dictator Jesus causing us to submit in an unhappy way for eternity they're trying to rewrite the whole script and Jesus In This Moment is is helping us see that hey that script's not going to be Rewritten it's written it's set in stone and it's going to last forever and you need to be aware of it how they're treating Jesus is a human portrayal of the spiritual wrath of God that is awaiting for those who do not accept that great gift that God has extended to us where he siners and that's why when it comes to the mission of God it's the

church is not just some subculture that we're creating in Indie in order to have other people come in that are kind of like us and enjoy us and and that we just want to hang out with like it is an actual mission of God that is going into the domain of darkness and it's seeking to do exactly what Jesus did when he came to the domain of Darkness it's seeking to save that which is lost and that which might even be hostile towards anything that is of god anything that is of Jesus and we are letting them know I was of you I was just

like you I I did not believe in Jesus I I didn't want anything to do with Jesus I was a sinner just like you I had no hope and I was helpless and I needed a savior I needed a savior I needed someone who could help me fix my life fix my sins accomplish something for me that I could not do for myself it's not us going out and saying we're Saints you're a bunch of Sinners and you need to become a saint just because we're better than you like we were trying to get you no it's actually just letting them know we're Beggars leading

other Beggars to show where they can find bread that's what we're seeking to accomplish and it is imperative it's not a suggestion it's imperative go and make disciples that that wasn't uh hey when you get around to it look at your neighbors M ju maybe consider if any of them might be interested in forgiveness it's not a consider like it's it's a command why because Jesus is showing us here in a very small window of what their eternity is going to look like if we don't throw the life preserver of Jesus Christ in front of them in order for them to see him to hear

the gospel message of what he's come to accomplish for them so that they can accept it believe he is who he says he is become Believers in him have their Eternal Destiny secured and then they get to join the team of helping others come to that same understanding and the reality is is that what they're actually seeking in their life is joy and satisfaction in creation and they're never going to find it and we're helping them see that you can find it in your creator we're getting creation back to Creator through the door that is Jesus again what Jesus is accomplishing or showing us in

this human portrayal of the spiritual wrath of God is what is awaiting them at the end if they don't accept the gift that has been extended to them through Jesus what is the gift it's the gospel how do you receive the Gospel it's whether or not you believe Jesus is who he says he is and that's where he goes next in the interrogation he shows us what hell is going to look like in a very small window of it and then he moves into the interrogation that shows us whether or not we land in the correct category of whether or not we're going to be

beaten and tortured and blindfolded like Jesus was in Hell For Eternity or whether or not we get elevated because of the Gospel to a glory sense be restored and be able to go be with Jesus forever in heaven so to add salt to the wound Jesus is then illegally interrogated behind closed doors at the Council of the chief priests and scribes this was supposed to be a fair and public trial even among the Jews but they didn't start there they pulled him behind closed doors and they said we're going to ask some questions we're going to put together a case and then we're just going

to jump over the Jews and we're going to go straight to the political authorities which are the Roman officials and we're going to declare or demand among them that Jesus needs to be ultimately crucified why did they jump over the public trial amongst the Jews was because a week ago they had the triumphal entry and they still were not sure where the people landed yet why because they haven't been able to manipulate the script they haven't been able to come to the people yet and say hey just so you know he's he's a criminal he he insane he's a lunatic and so instead they pull

him behind scenes they ask him some questions to try to manipulate him and get him to say he is the Son of God and then they're going to go around the people they're going to go to the Roman officials and they're going to declare to them this is a blasphemer who has broken the laws of their people and so therefore we need your stamp of approval in order to get rid of him so let me show you this they led him away to their Council and they said if you are the Christ tell us why do they ask him that question because they had nothing

else on him he's without sin so if they're just looking at whether or not he's a good human being they've got nothing on him for the three years of his ministry the only reason why they're following him around from synagogue to synagogue and Village to Village is because they're trying to find him caught in a lie they're trying to find him doing something that he's not supposed to be doing they're trying to find him mistreating someone else but all they keep seeing is mean he's feeding people he's healing people he's bringing dead people back to life like he might be the best person that's ever

lived we can't find a fault in him and the only times that they do try to question his deity again he doesn't allow them to even see what he's saying and so he starts teaching in par Parables that allude to his deity and the only ones that could understand those were the disciples that he allowed to understand and everyone else is like I have no idea what he's saying right now like he's got me stumped again we still don't have anything on him so let's just keep moving on we got to get him but all of those were public Arenas and his Renown was growing

so the only way that they could get him out of the public I was to get him in a private setting behind closed doors and let's ask him some real questions let's really get at the one thing that we can use to crucify him let's get him to claim he's God if you are the Christ tell us Christ is not Jesus's last name if you thought that Jesus Christ that's just not it's not his last name it's a title Jesus the Christ Jesus the Christ it means the chosen one it means the anointed one it means the promised one who would come that would deliver

the people from captivity it's Moses 2.0 seasoned with triumphs of David and the wisdom of Solomon all rolled into one person in the Israelites mindset that's what they're looking for that's what they the again all the Old Testament is promising to the people there's going to be someone who will come that God has sent who's going to be risen up like Moses who's going to flee you from captivity so he's essentially and what they're basically what they're looking for is well right now we're under the Roman rule of the Empire we don't want that anymore we had that when we were in Egypt and we

didn't like it we want our own Freedom again we want our own State back we want our own government back we don't want to pay taxes to Caesar anymore we don't want to do those things we want to be our own people so send us another Moses please that's what they're looking for not only that they can't figure out their Kingdom they can't figure out their kingship they can't figure out who's ruling and reigning over them why because they keep dividing themselves over and over and over again they want a king they don't like their kings they then kill their kings over and over again

they want the word of God he gives them prophets they don't like the prophets they K them this is the people of God this is why we're blind and dumb because sin makes you blind and dumb are you the Christ and I love jesus' response says to them well if I tell you you're not going to believe me and if I ask you you're not going to answer me whether I am or not essentially what he's telling them or what he's showing them is two things if I tell you I am the Christ you're not going to believe it I already know where you're concluded

in your mind you're not asking the question seeking whether or not I am the promised one you're asking the question because you don't want me to be the promised one and if I say I'm the promised one then you're going to decare me a blasphemer but if I ask you the question do you believe that I'm the Christ that is sent you don't want to answer because if you're wrong you know according to the Old Testament you'll be held accountable by God for that and so you're not only trying to avoid your own sin you're trying to uh demonize me and make me your sin

and so they're not going to believe him and they're not going to answer him so Jesus isn't going to answer them either in that moment instead he shifts it to another title but from now on the son of man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God Jesus gives them a little bit of a Hint by declaring that he is the son of man now that's not saying he's the son of God yet it is but they don't see it that way son of man was a title that Jesus actually loved throughout the Gospel of Luke he used that title to

declare himself the son of man over 60 times he pulls that from Daniel chapter 7 where the Prophet has a vision of one coming the Messiah from the clouds like a son of man but that actually confused the Israelites what they realized or thought by Daniel claiming it as a son of man meant that this would be someone whose only human form similar to Moses or David or Solomon or any of the prophets so whoever this Messiah that's going to come in the form of a son of man is going to be a son of man they're not realizing that Jesus and this is one

of those again churchy words hypostatic Union is that he's going to come as the son of man born of woman but also as the Son of God born of God the Holy Spirit they're not able to see that yet but he uses that title to show them that yes I am the Christ I am the son of man that is Promised based off of Daniel Vision but you're not understanding that that son of man is also connected to the Son of God that they are one and the same and so that's why then in order to stump him because son of man still wasn't good

enough for them to crucify him because they believe the son of man's only going to be in human form just a man with no deity so it's not enough for them so then they all said the question that is the question the question that is the question for every single human on this Earth are you the Son of God are you the Son of God they need to know not for their spiritual vibrancy but for their current situation and he said to them you're right you say that I am I am then they said what further testimony do we need we've hted ourselves from his

own lips he is a blasphemer they did not accept his claim to be God and therefore they demonized him to the point of death on a cross as a criminal how has the relationship between humanity and Jesus At The Cross continue to play out for the last 2,000 years it's the exact same strategy Satan instigated with Judas the Sanhedrin the political authorities is that you have to do something with Jesus you have to no matter what you have to answer a question are you the Son of God and what the strategy of Satan and the enemy has been for the last 2,000 years is to

get us to think like they are thinking not to think like what Jesus has revealed to the disciples but to think like they are thinking so what we need to do is we need to get everyone to look at Jesus and consider him to be insane consider him to be a lunatic consider him to be a dictator consider him to be a criminal whatever it might be this is what our Society is attempting to do is normalize evil and dehumanize or demonize God that's the whole strategy if we can normalize evil and demonize God Satan believes he'll win in the sense that he will drag

as many people to hell with him as possible because what pleases Satan is the torture of God's creation that's what pleases Satan because he knows that's what's going to happen to him as well and he wants nothing but God's glory to be robbed and for us to not experience it as well and so what that looks like playing it out is and this is uncomfortable but normalize abortion and demonize an unborn child as if it is causing harm to the mother it's a reversal of Psalm 139 like that's what Society is seeking to do is Jesus the son of God he's created every single one

of us he knit us together in the in our mother's womb and so what evil wants to do is eradicate everything that represents the Son of God so let's normalize making it considered evil and and then demonize whatever it is that is trying to save it trying to elevate it trying to show that it is actually the image of God that's all abortion is is demonizing what God has created that brings him glory and displays his image again what is sin sin is eradicating God how do you do that eliminate his creation eliminate his creation that's what we've done normalize sexual and gender mutilation and

demonize god-given sexual and gender identity that's a reversal of Genesis 1 and two it's a reversal of Genesis 1 and2 normalize self-help and self- transformation and demonize self-denial and self-sacrifice that's a reversal of the Gospels it's a reversal of the gospels normalize individuality and isolation and demonized family and Community that's a reversal of Ephesians 45 and 6 that's what the strategy what they are following in this moment that they're unaware of that they're giving themselves over into sin in trying to kill their creator they don't really realize that they're actually killing creation they're sending themselves to hell they're eradicating themselves by giving over to their

sin instead of seeing their savior in front of them and this is exactly what our society is doing every single day is that our sin is actually causing us to create policies and and and culture that eradicates us because in Satan's strategy he believed that is how we eradicate the imod day the image of God and Rob him of his glory but there's good news the good news is that the question is asked Are You The Son of God and the good news is that not everybody answers it in a wrong way the good news is that God actually gives us an ability to have

the blindfold lifted off so that our eyes can see and our ears can hear that Jesus is the Christ that he is the son of man that he is the Son of God and that what he is doing in this moment is not just a picture of what eternal hell is going to look like but it is a substitution of your punishment as he puts himself in your position and he In This Moment God uses his creation to exact his wrath upon Jesus who becomes you in the moment so that when you see Jesus and you believe in Jesus you no longer receive the wrath

of God but instead said whatever God has for his son you receive you receive his grace you receive his inheritance you receive his rightful place at the right hand of God in glory where we become coair with Christ for eternity like that's what we receive when we answer the question are you the Son of God and we say Yes We Believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God we believe that he came to this earth to accomplish what we could not do for ourselves it's the only reason why he came we believe that he became or that he was the promised one that all the

Old Testament scriptures pointed to We believe that he was born in a hypostatic union that he was of Mary and that he was of the Holy Spirit and that that was a supernatural event that happened that we will look at in Advent when we get in December that he was born and that he's 100% man that he's 100% God and and as he lives his life he never sins which means that he has earned righteousness in our place because what do we do we come right out of the womb we're screaming for demand like feed me you don't have any opportunity to be patient give

it to me now like we're Sinners right out of the gate like where's your patience like two of our families are experiencing that in this moment this week with two baby's born you don't get to have patience anymore that baby demands everything we're Sinners right out of the gate and Jesus comes and is not a sinner he is righteous out of the gate and his entire life like we always want to jump to the Cross but you got to realize yes the cross takes the wrath of God away from you but his life is what gives you righteousness the fact that he only ever thought

good thoughts I mean think about that this week how many bad thoughts have you had how many bad thoughts have you had have you talked to somebody this week you had a bad thought did you drive a car this week you had a bad thought you woke up at a time you didn't want to wake up and you had a bad thought Jesus never had a bad thought never like that's that's insane to me but he never had a bad thought never had a bad intention like people do good things today and we're like well question the motive what was the motive for that they're

selfish he never did anything in a selfish reason if there was anyone who was like able to do something from a selfish reason like it would be Jesus I'm doing this for my glory he could say that and it could be right but he didn't say that I came to seek and to save that which was lost as a physician he came to heal he came to serve he came to Humble himself all of that's righteous he earned that for us so that when we believe and say you are the Son of God in that moment what he gives us this is called imputation what

he gives us is a perfect life like a perfect record he takes Jesus from birth to death and he says every thought Jesus had are your thoughts every action Jesus had are your actions every work that Jesus did are your work works it's imputed righteousness so that when God looks at us he doesn't see every imperfect thought that you did he doesn't see every imperfect action that you did he doesn't see every imperfect work that you did he forgives them and God is the only one who's able to see them no more forgets them like amen for that like seriously so when he looks at

you what did he say of Jesus when Jesus was baptized this is my son in what in whom I'm well pleased why was he well pleased with him because for 30 years Jesus did exactly what he was supposed to do he was perfect and it pleased the father it pleased the father so when we accept Jesus when we believe in Jesus when we believe he is the Son of God what gets imputed to us is the life of Jesus and God God then looks at you in that moment and says I don't care about anything that you've ever done you want to know something not

only have I forgiven it I don't even remember it like God does not remember what you did yesterday that's insane to me he does not remember the sin that you committed because he forgave it and he forgot it only God can do that we don't we can't there will be a a day that we get to have that opportunity in glory but he looks at you and he says this is my son and my daughter in whom I'm well pleased I'm well pleased he gives you jesus' righteousness and then because Jesus In This Moment of what we're experiencing right now where we're at in the

text Jesus is taking your punishment he's taking your punishment so that imputed righteousness he then takes your sin and your punishment and he imputes it to Jesus he gives it to Jesus so that when you've had those bad thoughts this week and you felt a little bit that I'm I'm an idiot again I'm a dummy I did it again that shame you feel that guilt you feel that conviction that you feel Jesus took it but he took Rays he took Stephanies he took dway he took Brooks he took every single person's in this room any shame and guilt that you've ever felt due your sin

Jesus took all of it and imputed it to himself and allowed the wrath of God to then be poured out on him so much so that he cries out to God why have you forsaken me why have you forsaken me that's what we feel every day when we sin we think God why have you forsaken me and he says I have it I've forgiven you I've forgiven you Jesus I forsook he took your sin he took your shame and your guilt live free live free be lifted out of that don't walk around woe is me a sinner like there needs to be a moment like

when we're in sin there needs to be a little bit of sackcloth and ashes where we come to the Lord and we say I sinned again absolutely that's why we um partake of communion every week it's because we examine ourselves we we look at what we've done throughout the week but the reason why we do it is because even though we're in that sackcloth and Ashes even though we're in that moment where we're we're lamenting our sin and we're grieving our sin we're grieving the fact that we grieve the Holy Spirit we do that because we know we have access to be able to come

to the father who is going to tell us every single time that's what 1 John 1:9 says if we confess with our mouths um or if we confess our sins to the Lord he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all righteousness why is he faithful and just to do that because of what he did to Jesus it's the only reason if Jesus didn't do what Jesus did God does not have to be faithful and just to us what actually makes him faithful and just is that he would just send us all to hell that would be

just but because Jesus Took punishment for those who believe in Jesus God is just to forgive us of our sins and forget those sins forever man that's good news they did not accept this claim and therefore they were judged for it how we answer that question is Jesus the son of God God the son of man in the Christ will determine how you structured and Steward your life it will at the end of the day that's that's what's going to happen are you as a human are we going to judge Jesus like they are doing or are we going to let Jesus judge us because

if we judge Jesus like they are doing then there will come a day where Jesus judges us and you don't want to be that person but is Jesus your God not not not just your like again some of them some of the people again he haded 5,000 which was just counted as the men we talked about that this week in the in the word of the week I say we talk about it like we had a conversation that's what was written in the word of the week this week Jesus fed 5,000 that was counted as men which was really more like 10 to 15,000 including

the women and children where where were they when Jesus is giving the uh account of go and make disciples to about 120 people there are some who only consider him a good teacher there are some who only consider the consider him a self-help Guru there are only some who consider him among Gandhi and Muhammad do we consider him our savior in what he accomplished through his life and do we consider him as our Lord in the fact that we are his servants and we submit to him and he rules us and he dictates what we do with our finances what we do with our relationships

what we do with our resources I mean the best way like what do we do with our our our our treasure our time and our talents what do we do with those things well guess what he didn't tell you uh I'm gonna give you like the ability to work and create money but you figure out what you do with it I'm gonna give you like time every day and and which is also weird because basically you're on like a a twom minute you're allowed two minutes to live and then you have to breathe again to like restart the clock again like God God ordered it

that way so when we think well I've got 70 years to live no you got two minutes to live until you breathe like how you use that determines what the eternal life looks like he gives us time he gives us talents he's wired you there's a reason why I don't sing on the team he has not awarded me that ability to Make a Joyful Noise with my throat like it just doesn't work that way why are you laughing she knows there are some who have the gift of administration there are some who have the gift of giving there are some who have the gift of

evangelism there are some who have the gift of hospitality there are some who have the gift of I just like just Administration there there's literally a gift in the scriptures called The Gift of helping like what's that mean it means like you just walk into a situation and you help like we are all given things by God because he is our Lord he tells you here's how I want you to Steward your treasure here's how I want you to Steward your time here's how I want you to Steward your talents is he our Lord or are we kind of these lower Lords where we're like

here's how we're going to do it what do you think you want to sign sign off on it all right thank you I got your sign off like now let's go with it and he's up there just shaking his head is he the Son of God if he is the Son of God and and because again the grace of God the faith of God that that has been granted to us to be able to see if you're able to see it and you're answering the question correctly does the rest of your life match the way you answer question that's a good question and that's the

question I'm going to leave you with let's pray father we thank you this morning for your word we thank you for what Jesus is not only showing us in this moment of his beating and betrayal and being blindfolded and blasphemed but he is also showing us by War what will happen if we don't see that he is the Son of God and Father my prayer is that if there's anyone in this room who had not had eyes to see then I pray they now have eyes to see I pray that in this room right now if there's someone who was like you know what I

just thought he was you know he was a good teacher like he's Jesus I know about him but I don't know him maybe this morning is the first time that they know him they they they it they feel it in their heart the conviction that the the spirit of God the word of God is piercing and it's allowing us to say you know what I was following my own life and I was not following Jesus and now I want to follow Jesus I pray they have the boldness to communicate with one of us this morning and say hey that was me now I see I

was blind now I see I believe Jesus is the son of God and I believe he died on the cross for my sins so that God could forgive me of those sins and bring me into the family of Believers father I also just pray for our church that for us that do see who you are that we do see that your son is the son of God I pray that we would not only see him as Savior but as Lord who rules and Reigns our lives and tells us how we should Steward our treasure our time and our talents that we don't sit behind a

closed door and just try to figure it out ourselves but that we come to you in prayer and with your word as guidance to be a able to show us hey and ask you just straight up ask you Lord what do you want me to do today how do you want me to spend what you've given me how can I Advance your kingdom and Advance your gospel who do I need to tell today who do I need to invite to see you I'm telling you that that's what brings us the most joy that is to be this side of Glory God we love you and

we thank you for all that you have done it's in your son's name we pray amen ask you to go ahead
